Creating a location
You can use the SC//Reliantâ„¢ Platform Manager or the SC//Reliant API to create new locations. However, if you already have nodes created for your tenant it is likely you already have existing nodes and therefore no need to create additional locations.
In SC//Reliant Platform Manager, you can either create locations individually or there is an import feature that allows you to create new locations in bulk. SC//Reliant Platform Manager also provides a way to export a pre-formatted CSV file with the existing locations for the selected tenant to make the import process easier.
Auto-created locations and cleanup
SC//Reliant has been auto-creating locations on customers' behalf, using the store number so the location name is Location store_number. You can decide how you want to organize your locations going forward:
- Multiple node clusters in the same location
- A separate location for each cluster
Depending on the organization strategy you choose, there may be some cleanup needed for your existing, auto-created locations. You can use SC//Reliant Platform Manager to create or update locations, but you must use the SC//Reliant API to delete any unused locations.
While nodes were automatically associated with a location based on the store number, servers were not auto-associated, so you must make those associations yourself.
Location detail restrictions
- Location names are limited to 20 characters
- Location names may only contain alpha-numeric characters or hyphens, no special characters
- Location names containing spaces are converted to using hyphens
- Location addresses must be real addresses. Validations are done for each ZIP code to ensure the city and state match.
Create a single location
You can use the SC//Reliant Platform Manager or the SC//Reliant API to create new locations.

Create a location manually (SC//Reliant API)
For details on using the SC//Reliant API to create a location, see Create a Location in the SC//Reliant API Reference.
Create multiple locations through bulk import
The import location action is performed by uploading a formatted CSV file with the details of the locations to create. SC//Reliant Platform Manager provides an Export CSV option on the Import Locations page which exports a pre-formatted CSV file you can use with the existing locations for your tenant.
The following examples go into detail about the formatting of the CSV file.
Example: Create a new location
The following is an example CSV file that creates a new location named 0001 with no nodes or servers associated with it. A new location is created by omitting the id value.
id,name,city,state,addressline1,addressline2,zipcode,country,nodes,servers
,0001,Austin,TX,3307 Northland Drive,Suite 500,78731,"",""
Example: Create a new location with node associations
The following is an example CSV file that creates a new location named 0001 and associates the sit0001red0 and sit0001red1 Nodes with it.
id,name,city,state,addressline1,addressline2,zipcode,country,nodes,servers
,0001,Austin,TX,3307 Northland Drive,Suite 500,78731,US,"sit0001red0, sit0001red1",""
Example: Create a new location with node and server associations
The following is an example CSV file that creates a new location named 0001 and associates the sit0001red0 and sit0001red1 Nodes and sitsrv0 Server with it.
id,name,city,state,addressline1,addressline2,zipcode,country,nodes,servers
,0001,Austin,TX,3307 Northland Drive,Suite 500,78731,US,"sit0001red0, sit0001red1",sitsrv0
