Simple management and maintenance is a key feature of SC//HyperCore™ HyperVisor. If you don’t know the VM icons or cues on this page, see the Appendix.
Alerts and Log
The SC//HyperCore system monitors and reports system health in real time. Its monitoring service assesses and resolves hundreds of possible system scenarios.
Conditions
The SC//HyperCore web interface shows active conditions on the Conditions tab in the Control Center. The SC//HyperCore software uses a simple tiered system to show the impact of each condition:
| Severity | Color | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Informational | Green | For your information only; no action required. |
| Notice | Yellow | Minor concerns detected; should be addressed but does not impact VM availability or system stability. |
| Warning | Yellow | Major concerns detected; potential to impact VM availability, system stability, or redundancy. Address as soon as possible. |
| Critical | Orange | Critical concerns detected; immediately impacts VM availability, system stability, or redundancy. Address immediately. Contact Scale Computing Support for a health check if a critical condition is reported. |
When you first sign in to the SC//HyperCore web interface, any active conditions appear as overlay boxes in the lower right corner. Dismiss them one at a time with the X, or hover over the list and select hide all messages.
Alerts
The SC//HyperCore system turns system conditions into alerts that users can read. The monitoring service reports alerts in real time, and it uses the settings on the System tab to email alerts to the chosen recipients. Each alert explains any actions needed to resolve the set condition.
Cluster Log
The Cluster Log tab is a comprehensive history of system events and conditions. It includes VM starts/stops, VM migrations, remote system sessions, system redundancy events, set and cleared conditions, and more. Each item is recorded with a SEVERITY level, as well as additional ALERT and ERROR conditions.
As in the VM Management Panel, you can filter the log with the dropdown list or by keyword.
Tasks
When a change is applied to a VM or the system, an informational alert appears in the lower right corner of the SC//HyperCore web interface. The task states are:
| State | Description |
|---|---|
| QUEUED | Initial state of a requested change; the request is being processed for inclusion in the database. May not always appear if the database is not currently active with another task. |
| RUNNING | The change is being actively applied to the system. The database will be locked from any other changes while running. |
| COMPLETED | The change is complete and has been successfully applied. |
| ERROR | Most commonly indicates the database was locked for another change at the time a new one was requested. Can often be ignored — the system will wait for the current task to complete and then proceed. Ensure you see the COMPLETED alert once the running task is complete. |
