Sensu (monitoring)
The SC//Reliantâ„¢ platform uses Sensu, an open-source monitoring event pipeline, to collect, process, and forward monitoring telemetry. A Sensu agent on each edge node collects monitoring events and forwards them to a cluster of Sensu servers in the SC//Reliant Management Plane. The Sensu servers can then forward the events to whichever third-party destination the operator prefers; the platform is alerting-tool-agnostic and does not require any specific paging, ITSM, or notification product.
What Sensu monitors
Common monitored events include CPU and memory utilization, disk-space thresholds, keepalive events, and basic service checks on key components like Puppet, DRBD, and SSH. Custom service checks can be configured to monitor workload-specific conditions, and handlers can be configured to forward events to operator-chosen destinations.
Role in the platform
Sensu is the telemetry layer for day-2 operations on the SC//Reliant platform. Threshold breaches, missed keepalive heartbeats, and check failures fire through the Sensu pipeline, where they can trigger automated remediation, ticket creation in the operator's chosen IT Service Management (ITSM) tool (for example, ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or Freshservice), or paging through the operator's chosen on-call platform (for example, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, or VictorOps). These tools are named only as illustrative examples; handlers can be configured to integrate with whichever ITSM, paging, chat, or webhook destination the operator already uses.
