Managing containers

Managing containers

The SC//Reliantâ„¢ platform supports Docker containers. The following container configurations may be used.

  • Singleton - Containers running on a single, stand-alone, edge security device with no clustering. These are defined in the Docker hash and are commonly referred to as containers running outside the cluster.
  • Clustered - Containers running in a highly available cluster on two edge security devices. These are defined in the Cluster Docker Resources hash and are commonly referred to as containers running inside the cluster.
  • A mix of the two - These are singleton containers running outside the cluster alongside containers running in a cluster on the same edge security device.

Containers are defined as data in SC//Reliant Platform Manager and deployed by Puppet. You describe each container, the registry its image is pulled from, and its volumes and networking in node group and node properties, and Puppet pulls the image and starts the container on the node's next run. To try this end to end, start with Tutorial: Deploying a custom container to an SC//Reliant node.

The following topics dive deeper into how to build, configure, and manage your containers on the SC//Reliant platform.
