This page covers how Scale Computing supports each release of the SC//HyperCore™ HyperVisor. It also lists the stages Scale Computing uses when it retires software and hardware products.
Release Support Policy
Scale Computing supports the two most recent Standard Production software releases. Early and Limited Production releases are supported for 12 months after release. Support ends sooner if a Standard Production release replaces that branch.
- Standard Production releases are in the SC//HyperCore web interface, so customers can upgrade on their own when it suits them.
- Limited Production releases are ready for production use. Systems already on that software path can get them in the web interface. For other systems, you may schedule them with Scale Computing Support, which then applies them.
- Early Production releases are upgrades that are ready for production use. Scale Computing Support offers them at its own discretion. Validation criteria may apply. You must schedule these with Scale Computing Support, which then applies them.
Product Lifecycle Reference
Apart from release support, Scale Computing has lifecycle policies for the software and hardware products themselves. They make sure customers get the latest features and capabilities before a product line is retired.
| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| End of Life Announcement | Scale Computing tells customers that a specific product is entering the end-of-life cycle. This starts the “last time buy” period before the official End of Sale date. |
| End of Sale | The date a product is no longer offered on the Scale Computing price list for purchase. This starts the “full support” period. During this period, customers get a final chance to renew or extend their support contract for full (hardware and software) support before the official End of Support Renewal date. |
| End of Support Renewal | The date a product’s full support option (hardware and software) is no longer offered for purchase. Customers with existing full support contracts are honored through their contract completion date. This starts the “limited support” period, where software patches and updates may be limited or end completely. Software support is offered on a “best effort” basis until the official End of Life / End of Support date. A “limited support” contract doesn’t cover hardware, so hardware must be bought separately if a failure occurs. |
| End of Life / End of Support | The date a product is no longer supported (hardware or software) by Scale Computing. Customers with full or limited support contracts already in place are honored through their contract completion date. |
As of this writing, there are no active SC//HyperCore software end-of-lifecycles.
