Node Maintenance Mode

In SC//HyperCore™ HyperVisor 9.4.18 and later, you can evacuate running virtual machines from a node with a single function in the web interface. All running Virtual Machines then migrate seamlessly to other nodes in the cluster.

  • SC//HyperCore 9.4.18 or later.

Node Maintenance Mode lets you isolate a chosen node from the SC//HyperCore cluster for maintenance work. This includes networking and infrastructure changes, and hardware troubleshooting that Scale Computing Support recommends.

Accessing Maintenance Mode within the SC//HyperCore Web Interface

After you sign in to the SC//HyperCore web interface, click the gear icon to open the Control Center. Then click the Control section. Each node is listed with its LAN IP and status, along with a Maintenance Mode button and a Shutdown button.

Activating Maintenance Mode

Activating Maintenance Mode on an SC//HyperCore node evacuates any running Virtual Machines from the host.

  1. Select Maintenance Mode on the node you want to isolate.
  2. In the confirmation dialog, select Maintenance Mode to confirm.

An INFO notice appears, showing that the selected node is evacuating Virtual Machines. After all Virtual Machines have migrated, the node shows an In Maintenance Mode status.

When you select Exit Maintenance Mode, the Virtual Machines that were migrated off return to the node as it rejoins the cluster.
