Adaptiv OS Release Notes v8.4

AOS Release Notes v8.4

The Adaptiv OS (AOS) release notes highlight new features and enhancements as well as critical bugs addressed in each release.

Release 8.4.1

Release Date: March 13, 2026

Addressed Issues

  • 679 –  This release addresses an issue where, in some cases, the application database failed to load correctly. When this occurred, traffic continued to pass through the CPE, but applications were not identified by the CPE. To avoid this issue, we strongly recommend customers upgrade to this release.

Release 8.4.0

Release Date: February 27, 2026

Features and Enhancements

  • Enhanced process to update application database – Updating the application database is a CPU‑intensive task that can sometimes lead to temporary packet loss or brief traffic disruptions. In this release, we focused on minimizing service impact during these updates.
  • Ability to schedule CPE registration – This release introduces the ability to schedule CPE registration. At the scheduled registration time, the system will automatically check whether a newer version of the CPE application database has already been downloaded and automatically apply it to the running configuration.
  • Support for PPPoE connections – Enhanced support for customer networks using PPPoE connections.
  • Optimization of tunnel performance – Includes several improvements designed to optimize tunnel performance.
  • Edge device GUI features and enhancements – Introduced firewall policy override configuration that enables customers to allow certain traffic by overriding a broader "block" policy.

Caveat

  • For new sites, the primary link recovery mechanism stability timer is set to a default value of 120 seconds. While this default value is retrievable from ACN, it is not displayed in the CPE terminal using the aos cfg get command unless the timer has been modified from its default setting.
  • During CPE re-registration, the system may assign the device to a different gateway to optimize resource utilization. This transition typically takes approximately 15 seconds. The system continuously monitors capacity and adjusts assignments as needed, not only at initial endpoint creation, to ensure optimal performance and stability.
  • When a PPPoE connection experiences outage, the recovery time can sometimes be longer than expected.

Addressed Issues

  • 637,954, and 1925 – Resolved issues that caused delays when pushing new configurations to CPEs.
  • 2001– Fixes issue where CPE would not reconfigure at preferred time window.

Open Issues

  • 329 – Observed a few instances where the LTE modem switches from primary mode to legacy mode and cannot be reset to primary mode.
  • 392 – An internal LTE modem connected to E-40 device will connect to the network, but not transmit data.
  • 634 – When DNAT policies are in use, manually configuring the LAN host MTU to a value less than 1500 bytes may result in packets getting dropped.
