PA001 Visibility of High Availability Sites

PA 001 Visibility of High Availability Sites

About

High availability sites may occasionally become invisible from the orchestrator when changes are made to them through Orchestrator. This could occur while the site is still up and running. Similar behavior is also noticed when the primary Edge device becomes unresponsive, and the secondary Edge device takes over. In such cases, the device appears offline, even if the site is operational.

Workaround

In such cases, the following procedure can be used in order to cause the site to become visible in the orchestrator:

  1. Remove HA from ACN and remove router from NID:
    -n <NID> sites update <site name> --ha=false
    -n <NID>  routers remove <S/N>
  2. Disconnect the secondary Edge device from Internet (or power off).
  3. Undeploy primary Edge device and redeploy (site should now be visible on customer dashboard).
  4. Reconfigure ACN:
    -n <NID>   routers assign <S/N> <site name>  --ha=true
    -n <NID>   routers interfaces config update <S/N> wan1 --alias=ISP1 --backup=false --download=100 --upload=100 --weight=10 --check-connectivity --mode=ipv4 --ipv4-type=dhcp

    Or for static link:
    -n <NID>   routers interfaces config update <S/N> wan1 --alias=ISP1 --backup=false --download=100 --upload=100 --weight=10 --check-connectivity --mode=ipv4 ipv4-type=static --ipv4-address <IP address wan1> --ipv4-netmask <subnet mask> --ipv4-gateway <IP address gateway>
    -n <NID>   sites subnets update <site name> <subnet/CIDR> --dhcp=false

    -n <NID>   sites update <site name> --ha=true

5. Reconnect secondary CPE to the Internet (or power on).
