Solution Components Overview

The SD-WAN solution offered by Adaptiv Connect comprises of multiple components that work together to provide high quality cloud connectivity for all users. This article briefly explains the role of each component in the solution and its interaction with other components. The Adaptiv Connect solution comprises of three main components – Adaptiv Connect Network (ACN), Adaptiv Edge devices, and Adaptiv Cloud Orchestrator (ACO).

• Adaptiv Connect Network (ACN) – The Adaptiv Connect Network (commonly referred to as ACN) is the foundation and underlying backbone of the SD-WAN network configuration. It consists of gateways, databases, and network services responsible for setting up the VPN tunnels for the customers. ACN control network access for different kinds of users. For instance, ACN makes it possible to configure and manage numerous networks with partner accounts whereas with customer accounts, it only permits access and management of network belonging to only that customer. The ACN adheres to a Zero Trust Network Access principle, where access to the network resources is only granted when required.

• Adaptiv Edge – Adaptiv Edge is a series of cloud-managed devices that are installed at the customer site. By connecting to the ACN, the Edge devices build a smart network and offer a cloud-managed business network experience. Edge devices can be remotely monitored and managed with Adaptiv Cloud Orchestrator. The lineup of Adaptiv Edge devices includes:

• Adaptiv Cloud Orchestrator – Adaptiv Cloud Orchestrator (orchestrator) is a cloud management portal that enables its users to view and manage their sites remotely. It is a multitenant application which means one or more partners and customers can independently manage their sites in a shared environment. The orchestrator allows users to perform the following tasks:
  • Create service orders for customer sites and provision devices with service configuration
  • Access dashboard analytics to view site performance
  • Manage service configurations remotely
    
    

The solution components work collaboratively to provide businesses with a full Adaptiv Connect solution experience. The Edge device makes a configuration request to the ACN and other related services. The requests are secured by allowing only the users with appropriate credentials to access these requests. These requests are further passed on the the gateway. The gateway then provides access to various network services. The gateway routes the client traffic to the network services and the potential destinations such as the internet, Adaptiv Edge devices or other clients.
