Using the local node consoles

Using the local node consoles

Each SC//Reliantâ„¢ node can run a web console that you open in a browser to check that node's status and perform a limited set of actions on it, without signing in to the node over SSH. A local console acts only on the node you are connected to. Configuration is not changed from a local console. It is defined in SC//Reliant Platform Manager and applied by Puppet.

This chapter covers two local consoles.

  • REdge is the newer local console. It is a front end for the SC//Reliant Virtual Controller (RVC) and covers virtual machines, containers, cluster status, Puppet, maintenance tasks, and diagnostics. REdge is not yet generally available. Once it is released, it is installed automatically with RVC and is the recommended local console.
  • The SC//Reliant Local Status Indicator (RLSI) is the existing local console. It reports the node's status and offers a small set of local actions, such as restarting or backing up a virtual machine.

For help deciding when to use a local console and when to use SC//Reliant Platform Manager, see Choosing between Platform Manager, REdge, and RLSI.
