Status history

The Status History view of the Network tab shows a graph of the edge security device (ESD)'s Network status over a period you choose. Use it to spot patterns of instability, trace the timeline of an outage, or confirm that a site has been consistently healthy. It answers questions like "was this site having problems before I got here?" and "how long was it actually down?"

To open it, on the Site Status page select the Network tab, then select Status History in the menu at the top right.

The Status History view, showing the Period buttons, Start Date, Jump to links, the status graph with its legend, and the uptime summary

Choose the period

Control What it does
1D, 7D, 30D Show one day, seven days, or 30 days. 7D is selected when the view opens.
‹ Prev and Next › Move back or forward by one period. Next › is unavailable when you're already viewing the most recent period.
Start Date The first day shown. Enter a date to start the graph there.
Jump to Now shows the most recent period. Last Week and Last Month jump back to those periods.

A line above the graph shows the time zone used for all times (for example, All times are in Central Time.).

Read the graph

The graph is titled History for Network Status (System Availability). Each colored band shows the status the ESD reported during that time.

Zoom in. Drag across the graph to zoom in on a shorter time range. Select Reset Zoom to go back to the full period.

Detail level. The graph plots one data point every 5 minutes in the 1D view, every 30 minutes in the 7D view, and every 2 hours in the 30D view. A short status change may show only in the 1D view.

Status legend

Color Status level
Red DOWN
Orange CRITICAL
Yellow WARNING
Light blue INFO
Green OK

The graph is a single bar across the period, colored by the status at each point in time. The legend below the graph shows the colors. The status values come from the status reports the ESD sends to SC//AcuVigil. For what each status means, see Site status colors.

Uptime summary

A single line below the graph, for example:

Uptime 100.00%. Down for 0 hours 00 minutes 00 seconds.
  • Uptime is the percentage of the displayed period when the site wasn't DOWN.
  • Down for is the total time the site was DOWN during the displayed period.

Tickets and notes

When the site has support tickets or notes in the period you're viewing, a Tickets and Notes for period section appears below the uptime summary. It lists them together, most recently updated first. Use it to match changes in the graph with what happened at the site, for example a DOWN period and the support ticket opened for it. If the site has no tickets or notes in the period, the section doesn't appear. For more about tickets, see Working with support tickets.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Likely cause Check
Graph shows solid red for the entire period ESD has been continuously DOWN throughout the displayed window. Confirm in Network Configuration that the ESD's Current Date Time is recent. A stale timestamp means the ESD stopped reporting, not necessarily that the link is broken.
The graph says Data unavailable for a date range No status data exists for the selected period, for example because the ESD hasn't reported or the site is new. Select Jump to: Now, or try a different period. If the site is DOWN, see Site status colors.
Graph shows choppy alternating red and green bands Intermittent connectivity. The ESD is repeatedly going down and coming back up. In the Network Info view, check the WAN port lines for errors, for example No link detected.
