SC//Connect Suite tab

The SC//Connect Suite tab displays the status and settings of the SC//Connect™ Secure SD-WAN application running on the SC//AcuVigil™ edge security device (ESD). Use this tab to check that the ESD's SC//Connect tunnel is connected, to see the health of each WAN interface, and to set how the ESD connects to the SC//Connect network.

For an overview of the application and how to set it up, see SC//Connect.

Application description: Intelligently manage and optimize traffic across multiple WAN links.

Supported ESD models: SG1v1, SG2v1, XG1v1, VG

Layout

The SC//Connect Suite tab has a standard app header and two sub-views: Status and Settings. The default sub-view is Status.

Status Link. Switches to the Status sub-view.
Settings Link. Switches to the Settings sub-view.

Status sub-view

The default sub-view. It has four sections: Overview, Interfaces, Configuration, and Routes.

Overview

Field Description
Account The SC//Connect account the ESD is registered as. This is typically the ESD's serial number.
Tunnel Whether the ESD's SC//Connect tunnel is connected to the gateway (for example, Connected).
Authenticated Whether the ESD is authenticated with the SC//Connect network (Yes or No).
FEC Whether Forward Error Correction is enabled (for example, Disabled).
Encryption The encryption algorithm used for tunnel traffic (for example, AES-GCM).
Network ID The SC//Connect network the ESD belongs to. Each customer has its own network ID.
SC//Connect™ Version The version of the SC//Connect client software on the ESD.
Sensitivity The current Sensitivity setting.
SNAT Traffic Whether SNAT Traffic is enabled.
Tunnel IPsec Whether Tunnel IPsec is enabled.
Maximum Segment Size The current Max Segment Size setting.

Interfaces

One row for each WAN interface that SC//Connect uses.

Column Description
Name The WAN interface name (for example, wan or opt).
Address The interface's IP address and prefix length.
Role Primary or Backup, as set in Interface Type on the Settings sub-view.
State Whether the interface is online (for example, Online).
Latency (ms) Latency of the connection to the gateway, in milliseconds.
Jitter (ms) Variation in latency, in milliseconds.
MOS Mean Opinion Score, a measure of connection quality. Higher is better.
RX Loss (%) Percentage of received data lost.
TX Loss (%) Percentage of transmitted data lost.
RX Mbps Current receive rate, in Mbps.
TX Mbps Current transmit rate, in Mbps.
Status The interface's overall status (for example, OK).

Configuration

The SC//Connect network settings for this ESD.

Field Description
Gateway IP The public IP address of the SC//Connect gateway the ESD connects to.
Gateway Version The software version of the gateway.
Datacenter The datacenter where the gateway runs.
Local Prefix The subnet assigned to the ESD's SC//Connect tunnel interface. When SNAT Traffic is enabled, client traffic sent through SC//Connect appears to come from this interface.
DNS Servers The DNS servers provided by the SC//Connect network.
Public IPs The public IP addresses that traffic sent through SC//Connect uses.

Routes

A numbered list of the destinations the ESD can reach through SC//Connect.

Column Description
# Row number.
Prefix The destination, either internet or a subnet.
Type The kind of destination. Internet means client devices can reach the internet through SC//Connect. LAN Subnet is a subnet at another site on your SC//Connect network, reached through the SC//Connect gateway.

Sets how the ESD connects to the SC//Connect network. All fields are required.

The SC//Connect Suite Settings sub-view with default values

Field Type Options Description
Password Text — The password the ESD uses to authenticate with the SC//Connect network. It's created when the ESD is registered in the SC//Connect Orchestrator. Treat it as a secret.
Probe Interval (ms) Number — How often, in milliseconds, the SC//Connect client sends probes to the SC//Connect network on Primary interfaces. Default: 500.
Backup Probe Interval (ms) Number — How often, in milliseconds, the SC//Connect client sends probes on Backup interfaces. If a Backup interface is on a data plan with a low cap, such as cellular, use a higher value to reduce data use. If the Backup interface is another wired or terrestrial link, you can lower it. Default: 800.
Forward Error Correction Dropdown No, Yes Adds extra data to each packet to reduce retransmissions. This increases the size of every packet and applies to all interfaces, so enable it with caution. Default: No.
Sensitivity Dropdown High, Medium, Low How quickly the ESD detects that a WAN interface is down and fails over to another interface. High detects failures fastest. Sensitivity doesn't change the probe intervals. Default: Medium.
Tunnel IPsec Dropdown Disabled, Enabled Sends the ESD's IPsec VPN traffic, such as AutoVPN tunnels, through the SC//Connect tunnel, so VPN tunnels stay up when SC//Connect fails over between WAN interfaces. When it's disabled, VPN tunnels can be down for a few minutes during a failover. Default: Disabled.
SNAT Traffic Dropdown Enabled, Disabled Translates the source address of client traffic so that it appears to come from the ESD's SC//Connect tunnel interface. This lets devices on any of the site's network segments use SC//Connect. When it's disabled, only devices on the Local Prefix subnet can use SC//Connect. Leave this enabled. Default: Enabled.
Max Segment Size Number — The TCP maximum segment size (MSS) for client traffic sent through SC//Connect. If large packets are dropped, or a WAN interface at the site has a low MTU, lowering the MSS can help. Default: 1370.
Interface Type Dropdown, one for each WAN interface Primary, Backup, Disabled How SC//Connect uses each WAN interface. New connections are load balanced across Primary interfaces, and move to another Primary interface if latency increases on one. A Backup interface carries traffic only when no Primary interface is available. A Disabled interface isn't used by SC//Connect. On an XG, Integrated Cellular can be used. Its interface is named wwan0 by default, although it can be renamed. SC//Connect starts using it automatically once the cellular connection is ready to pass traffic.
Update Settings Button — Saves the settings and applies them to the ESD. The ESD doesn't reboot.

Important: If you enable Tunnel IPsec, VPN traffic leaves the site from the SC//Connect public IP address instead of the WAN interface's address. AutoVPN updates its allowed addresses automatically. For any other VPN responder, update the responder with the new public IP address, or the tunnel won't build.

Note: A settings change applies to the live site right away. Changing the Password or setting an interface to Disabled can interrupt SC//Connect traffic at the site.

What to look for

  1. Tunnel = Connected and Authenticated = Yes: the ESD is connected to the SC//Connect network.
  2. Each enabled interface shows State = Online and Status = OK: SC//Connect can use all of the site's enabled WAN connections.
  3. Latency, Jitter, and loss: compare interfaces to spot a poor-quality WAN connection.

The tab's status reflects the WAN interfaces:

Status Meaning
OK All of the interfaces SC//Connect uses are up.
INFO At least one Primary interface is up, but another interface (Primary or Backup) is down.
CRITICAL All Primary interfaces are down, or all interfaces are down.
