The SC//AcuVigilâ„¢ MultiWAN application provides failover and load balancing across multiple WAN interfaces on a Scale Computing edge security device (ESD). It monitors the health of each WAN connection and routes traffic through the best available connection.
Important: A site uses only one application to manage its WAN connections. Don't install MultiWAN on an ESD that runs WAN Failover or SC//Connect. For a comparison, see Failover and load balancing. |
Where to find it
To see this application's reports and company-wide settings for all your sites, select MultiWAN from the Apps menu. The page is titled MultiWAN.
Features
- Failover: Fails over across any number of WAN interfaces, not only a primary and a backup.
- Load balancing: Distributes client traffic across the WAN interfaces in a load balancing group.
- Load balancing groups and weights: You assign each WAN interface to a load balancing group, which sets its priority, and give it a weight, which sets its share of traffic within the group.
- Link tests: Tests each WAN link with UDP by default, with the option to use ping tests instead.
- Sensitivity settings: Sensitivity settings control how quickly MultiWAN fails over and fails back.
For an explanation of how groups, weights, sensitivity, failback delay, and hysteresis work together, see MultiWAN design and configuration guide.
System requirements
- Scale Computing ESD: SG1v1, SG2v1, XG1v1, or VG
Getting started
Available reports
The MultiWAN application provides four reports. You can run them on demand or schedule them for delivery by email.
| Report | Description |
|---|---|
| MultiWAN App Status Report | A report of MultiWAN app status |
| MultiWAN App Exception Report | A report of all sites with a non-OK MultiWAN app status |
| MultiWAN Interface Status Report | A report of MultiWAN interface status |
| MultiWAN Interface Exception Report | A report of all sites with a non-OK MultiWAN Interface status |
The status reports cover every site. The exception reports show only sites in a non-OK state, so use them to check the health of all your sites at a glance. The app reports describe the application as a whole, and the interface reports break the same information down by WAN interface.
Limits
A site supports a maximum of 10 load balancing groups.
