The High Availability application lets two Scale Computing edge security devices (ESDs) work as a failover pair at the network level. The devices keep a consistent network and connectivity state between them by using the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP). If one device has a hardware failure, the other device takes over all network communications. The application is self-recovering: when both devices are online and healthy, it rebuilds the failover pair. It monitors and logs operational statistics such as VRRP advertisements, device state, failover count, and packet errors.
Where to find it
To see this application's reports and company-wide settings for all your sites, select High Availability from the Apps menu. The page is titled High Availability.
Features
- Creates a failover pair from two ESDs.
- Maintains network and connectivity state between the two devices.
- Reports statistics on the VRRP relationship, failover, and device state.
Installation
Scale Computing installs and configures this application for you as part of the managed service. The steps below show what happens at the site.
- In the SC//AcuVigilâ„¢ dashboard, install the High Availability application at the site.
- Scale Computing configures the application.
Getting the application
Scale Computing installs High Availability (HA) on your sites as part of the managed service. To change its settings, contact Scale Computing Support. To add it to a site, open a ticket in the SC//AcuVigil dashboard, email team@scalecomputing.com, or call (512) 687-7401.
System requirements
- Two Scale Computing ESDs of the same model. Supported ESD models: SG1v1, SG2v1, XG1v1, VG. Pair matching models (for example, SG1v1 with SG1v1, or SG2v1 with SG2v1). Mixed pairs aren't supported.
HA is also available, in beta, for the VG, which runs as a virtual machine on SC//Reliant or SC//HyperCore.
