Scale Computing edge security devices

A Scale Computing™ edge security device (ESD) is the device at each site that connects the site to SC//AcuVigil™. It's the site's firewall and gateway: every device on the site's network connects through it, and it runs the SC//AcuVigil applications installed for that site.

ESD models

Model Type Network ports Built-in wireless Notes
XG1v1 Hardware WAN, OPT, and four LAN ports Wi-Fi and LTE cellular
SG2v1 Hardware Two WAN-capable ports and four LAN ports None Sensor bus for door and temperature sensors
SG1v1 Hardware WAN, AUX, and LAN None
VG Virtual machine Virtual network interfaces None Runs on SC//Reliant or SC//HyperCore
MG3 Hardware WAN, AUX, and LAN None Earlier generation. Revisions: MG3, MG3v3, and MG3v4

Not every application runs on every model. Each application's page lists the models it supports, and the category pages under SC//AcuVigil applications compare them.

Find out which ESD a site has

Each site's tile on the Locations page shows the ESD type and the last six characters of its serial number, for example SG 031177. The first digits identify the model:

Tile shows Model
MG 002… to MG 005… MG3
MG 006… to MG 008… MG3v3
MG 009… to MG 00b… MG3v4
SG 010… or SG 011… SG1v1
SG 03… SG2v1
XG 020… or XG 021… XG1v1
VGM 04… VG (VGMv1)
VGL 05… VG (VGLv1)

The site's Location info page shows the full serial number.

Status lights

Each hardware ESD reports its state with LEDs. The MG3, SG1v1, and SG2v1 share the same core lights (PWR, CLOUD, SEC, and DIAG), and the XG1v1 uses three multicolor lights instead. For what each light means, see the page for your model.
