Commander tab

The Commander tab displays the status of the AcuLink Verifone Remote Commander Access Service application running on the SC//AcuVigil™ edge security device (ESD). The application provides a PCI-compliant remote access connection between the site's Verifone Commander POS and Verifone support. Use this tab to check whether a remote support session is active and to activate one.

For an overview of the application, see Remote Commander.

Application description: PCI compliant remote access to the Verifone Commander POS for Verifone support.

Supported ESD models: MG3, SG1v1, SG2v1, XG1v1, VG

Layout

The Commander tab has a standard app header and a single view with an activation panel and an OTP panel.

Element Description
App icon Remote Commander app icon. Decorative.
AcuLink Verifone Remote Commander Access Service App name / block title.
Subtitle "PCI compliant remote access to the Verifone Commander POS for Verifone support". Static descriptor.
Version Package version string.

Activation panel

Activating the connection starts a remote support session that lets Verifone support reach the Commander POS. A session can be started from the Commander POS itself, or by a user from the company that owns the POS.

When no session is active, the panel shows an Activate button and this text:

The remote support connection to Verifone Support is not currently active. It can only be activated from the Commander POS itself, or by a user from the company that owns it. When the connection becomes active, connection information will appear here.

To start a session from the SC//AcuVigil dashboard, select Activate. Activating requires a role with the Activate remote access apps permission: Admin, Installer, Support Manager, Customer Help Desk, Staff, Viewer Support Associate, Viewer+Remote+VPN, or Viewer+Remote. When the connection is active, the panel shows the connection information.

OTP panel

The OTP panel shows the one-time passcode (OTP) for the remote support session, next to a code display. When no passcode exists, the panel shows:

No OTP Created

What to look for

  1. "The remote support connection to Verifone Support is not currently active" — normal state when no support session is in progress.
  2. Connection information shown — a remote support session is active. If you didn't expect one, confirm with your team or with Verifone support.

Other AcuLink remote access applications use the same Activate pattern:

  • Prisma tab (AcuLink™ Artisoft Remote Prisma Access Service). Subtitle: "PCI compliant remote access to the Artisoft Prisma POS for Artisoft support". The status text matches the Commander text, with Artisoft Support and the Prisma POS in place of Verifone Support and the Commander POS: "The remote support connection to Artisoft Support is not currently active. It can only be activated from the Prisma POS itself, or by a user from the company that owns it. When the connection becomes active, connection information will appear here."
  • Remote Thrive tab (AcuLink™ Granbury Remote Thrive Access Service). The status text is different, because the connection is for SC//AcuVigil users rather than a POS vendor's support team: "The remote support connection to the Thrive POS is not currently active. When the connection becomes active, connection information and a clickable link will appear here." See Thrive tab.
