Tanks tab

The Tanks tab displays the status of the Automated Tank Gauge (ATG) application running on the SC//AcuVigil™ edge security device (ESD). The ATG application provides a real-time display of fuel tank volume, capacity, alarms, and more. Use this tab to monitor tank status, review deliveries, check the tank log, and configure the ATG connection.

The tab shows current tank readings, recent deliveries, the tank log, and the ATG settings for this site. For an overview of the application, see Automated Tank Gauge.

Application description: Real-time display includes tank volume, capacity, alarms, and more.

Supported ESD models: MG3, SG1v1, SG2v1, XG1v1, VG

Layout

The Tanks tab has a standard app header and four sub-views: Current Status, Deliveries, Tank Log, and Settings. The default sub-view is Current Status.

Element Description
App icon ATG app icon. Decorative.
Automated Tank Gauge App name / block title.
Subtitle "Real-time display includes tank volume, capacity, alarms, and more." Static descriptor.
Version Package version string (for example, Ver.Q49000).
Current Status Link. Switches to the Current Status sub-view.
Deliveries Link. Switches to the Deliveries sub-view.
Tank Log Link. Switches to the Tank Log sub-view.
Settings Link. Switches to the Settings sub-view.

Status banner

When the application detects a problem, a colored banner appears below the header with the error message. For example, a banner that says the configuration file can't be opened means the ATG hasn't been configured for this site yet. To fix it, complete the Settings sub-view.

Current status sub-view

The default sub-view. A heading shows the ATG model, the number of ATGs, how recently the readings were taken, and the reading status. For example:

<ATG model> ATG (1/1) readings as of 3 minutes ago [OK]

Tank cards

Below the heading, the sub-view shows one card for each tank.

Field Description
Number and product label The tank number and the product label set in the Settings sub-view (for example, 1 Regular).
Fill graphic A graphic of the tank's fill level, with the percentage full.
Gallons left The volume of product in the tank, in the format N gallons left.
Water The water level in the tank, in inches.
Capacity The tank capacity, in gallons.
Height The product height in the tank, in inches.
Temperature The product temperature, in °F.

ATG details

Below the tank cards:

Field Description
Access this ATG at The IP address and port of the ATG (for example, 192.0.2.30:<port>).
ATG Clock Time The current time on the ATG clock.
Auto-Sync Clock Enabled Whether the ATG clock syncs automatically with the network.
Daylight Savings Time Enabled Whether daylight saving time is enabled on the ATG.
ATG Software The ATG software version.

Export status

If the site sends tank data to another application, a block for each export appears below the ATG details. The block shows the application name and when the site last sent tank data. For example:

PDI TelaPoint Connection Service — Tank data sent from this site 4 minutes ago (<file>.xml)

Its settings are shown when you select [Settings] in its block.

Deliveries sub-view

Shows a Most Recent Deliveries table with the fuel deliveries the ATG recorded.

Column Description
ATG The ATG that recorded the delivery.
Tank The tank number.
Fuel Name The product delivered.
Volume Change The change in tank volume during the delivery.
Start Volume The tank volume when the delivery started.
End Volume The tank volume when the delivery ended.
Start Delivery When the delivery started.
Elapsed Min How long the delivery took, in minutes.
Start Temp The product temperature when the delivery started.
End Temp The product temperature when the delivery ended.

Tank log sub-view

Shows a timestamped list of the tank readings the application takes, and what each reading was for. For example:

Reading for <application> export
Reading for SC//AcuVigil display

Use the tank log to check that the application reads the tanks on schedule, and that readings for each export are taken.

Settings sub-view

Note: Scale Computing manages these settings as part of the managed service. You can view them here. To request a change, contact Scale Computing Support: open a ticket in the SC//AcuVigil dashboard, email team@scalecomputing.com, or call (512) 687-7401.

The Settings sub-view, labeled Edit Configuration, sets how often the application reads the tanks and how it connects to each ATG.

General settings

Field Type Description
Read Tanks Every Dropdown How often the application reads the tanks: 5 minutes, 7 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 4 hours.
Number tanks sequentially across all ATGs Checkbox Numbers the tanks in one sequence across all ATGs at the site, rather than separately for each ATG.

Tank gauge settings

Each ATG has a Tank Gauge N block. Scale Computing adds an ATG with Add New ATG... and removes one with the Remove this ATG checkbox in its block.

Field Type Description
Remove this ATG Checkbox Removes this ATG from the configuration when you save.
Model/Protocol Two dropdowns (required) The ATG model and the protocol it uses. See the model list below. Protocol is VR2xx or VR3xx.
Host Text box (required) The IP address or host name of the ATG (for example, 192.0.2.30).
Port Text box (required) The TCP port of the ATG.
Security Code Text box A six-digit security code to be sent with all tank queries. Not required by most ATGs.
Use Temp Correction Off / On If turned on, the ATG makes a temperature correction to account for thermal expansion of product when taking a volume reading. Available only for ATGs that use the VR2xx or VR3xx protocols.
Auto-Sync Clock Off / On Automatically syncs the ATG clock with the network. Available only for ATGs that use the VR2xx or VR3xx protocols.
Tank Labels 1–12 Text boxes (required for every tank present) Label each tank with its product name for use in the SC//AcuVigil display and reports. Required for all tanks present.

Warning: Auto-Sync Clock lets the network change settings on third-party equipment. It requires a contract amendment before it can be enabled.

For the ATG models you can choose, see Supported ATGs.

RMS settings (PDI)

This section should be completed by PDI customers using the RMS accounting system.

Field Type Description
Use PDI RMS? No / Yes Whether the site uses the PDI RMS accounting system.

Saving the settings

When Scale Computing saves a change with Update Settings, it's applied to the ESD.

Note: A settings change applies to the live site right away.

What to look for

  1. A banner that says the configuration file can't be opened — the ATG isn't configured. Complete the Settings sub-view before tank data appears.
  2. The reading status in the Current Status heading — [OK] and a recent reading time mean the application is reading the ATG. An old reading time suggests a connection problem between the ESD and the ATG.
  3. Missing readings in the Tank Log — if readings stop, check the ATG connection settings and the ATG itself.
  4. Export status — if an export block shows that tank data hasn't been sent recently, check the settings for that application.
