Traffic Steering

Traffic steering allows you to steer an application (coming soon) or groups of applications through either the Adaptiv Gateway or public internet. In addition to steering, it allows you to define which WAN ports of Edge device will carry traffic to Adaptiv Gateway and public internet. Traffic steering template consists of traffic steering profiles. The process of applying a steering profile to an application group is called as application steering. Traffic steered through the Adaptiv Gateway benefits from bi-directional QoS.

Adaptiv Networks provides several traffic steering templates tailored to business requirements. These templates can be found under Traffic Steering in the left panel of a service order.

Traffic Steering Templates

To accommodate different customer scenarios, Adaptiv provides four traffic steering templates. The templates are available of each device: the E-40, E-60, E-80, Core, and Virtual Edge. The template is made of two components - traffic steering and application steering. The traffic steering component consists of two steering profiles. The Breakout at Gateway profile displays all WAN ports and wireless connections steering the traffic through gateway. In the Breakout at Edge profile, all the WAN ports and wireless connections steering traffic to public internet are shown. Application Steering component shows which steering profile is used for each application category.

*When the All Breakout template is used for Business Connect sites, the gateway is unable to communicate with these sites. As a result, the site dashboard for these sites does not display any statistics.
